It's New Year's Resolution season, and everywhere you go, and everything you read will be about getting back in shape. The experts, gurus, gyms, supplement companies, and every trainer and fitness enthusiast on the planet will be fighting for your time, attention, and money. I'm not going to "sell" you anything in this blog. I'm going to "give" you the truth. The "truth" is getting back in shape requires diet and exercise. It demands support, commitment, motivation, and accountability. We all need a plan, because when we fail to plan-then plan to fail! My plan to get back in shape will be publicized as I show the struggles of the journey, and share everything I go through to help as many people as I can. In doing so, I want to embrace all the Koko members and friends who are also on their quest to get back in shape by sharing and posting all your videos, posts, and comments. Follow me on the REAL journey we all go through!
A bit about me: I was born overweight. I weighed in at 11 pounds, 10 ounces right out of the womb, never had a chance. Growing up in a low income household, we were all overweight. Our diets consisted of cheap foods that we could buy in a box, can, or in bulk. Nobody educated me on how to eat healthy, and everyone around me ate terrible. I became addicted to sugar. I fell in love with carbs. By the time I reached 18 years old I was 317 pounds with chronic back pain and depression. This was my "rock-bottom". I felt hopeless, lost, and helpless. But then something amazing happened, I had the incredible epiphany that my body and my life were in MY CONTROL! All I had to do was eat right and exercise (THE HARD PART). Once I realized diet and exercise was the key, I immediately found the best coaches and gyms possible to reach my goals. I have searched every other way of building muscle and burning fat that didn't involve diet and exercise and they do not work, believe me I "looked into it". So in 5 months of eating right and working out I lost 129 pounds and since then have devoted my life to helping others.
This is where it gets REAL: For the past decade I have been helping people diet and exercise, and in those 10 years I have still struggled with food myself. I put so much time and effort into other's goals that I let my health fall to the way side. But now it's time to fix it, I finally feel like me again. I'm back at it! I still love sugar and still get excited about carbohydrates. I still eat things that I shouldn't, and as a result have gained body fat that I don't want. So I am doing something about it. I'm on a mission to get my body and my life back, and I want you to do it with me. I am going to post videos, comments, and share articles that inspire me to keep going. I want you to do the same. Post videos, tag me, add me, share your journey and every experience along the way to your best body!
